Where do I begin with Vienna…. We returned because it is such a beautiful city & loads to do, see & explore!
I can’t describe how grand the city is you will just have to see for yourself (or take a look at our photos below). It is the cleanest most beautiful (yes more than Paris) city we have ever been to.
It is where Jess’ grandfather came from before he escaped to Australia during WW2 (a story for another time). Unfortunately we are not sure exactly where he is from so Jess decided that he lived in the most regal of homes, the Palace!
We were only in this beautiful city for 4 nights but we met up with another airbnb guest (now friend) we hosted in Sydney, Valentin. He met us at Stephansplatz (main square) & took us to the best gelato place (Eis Greissler) we have ever been to – yep it trumps Messina, oh how I dream of this gelato. We wandered around the main area & then we went to this amazing place that is only 15 minutes out of the city but it feels like you are in the countryside. It was so beautiful, it was a winery & they served traditional Austrian food and drink (white wine mixed with sparkling water). It was amazing, we watched the sunset & ate until we had to undo our top button!
Our next day we went sightseeing and adventured around the city to explore the beautiful sites & the grand buildings. We also found out that you can actually swim in Vienna (who knew) so naturally wanting to escape the heat we headed to a certain area on the Donau river!
We also found this really cool market square where they sell foods from all over the world & luckily that day they were having a street festival with beer at every stall!
Dylan loved that you can buy a wurst (hotdog) on every corner in Vienna.
Even though we have already been twice to Vienna this is certainly a city I would return to in a heart beat!
Also this is only 1/4 of the photos we have of the city!!!!
