Vianden is a small town north of Luxembourg city close to the German border, known for it’s imposing castle placed on a mountain above the town & river. It was about a two hour bus ride from Luxembourg city. Since we saw everything we could in Luxembourg city in a day because it’s so small, we decided to check out another part of the country as well. The town is very small and very very quiet – we went on a Sunday and there was actually nothing at all to do, except eat at one of the two or three restaurants open. So we walked up the hill to the castle, through the snow which was really nice! The castle is big and old, and worthwhile checking out inside since you can access most of it and it is still in quite good condition. There are good views from the top as well.
