After Tokyo, we caught a flight to Fukuoka, on the southern island of Kyushu. Fukuoka’s historical name is Hakata, and it is quite famous for it’s ramen style, which Dylan was very excited about. It’s the closest Japanese city to the asian mainland, a short ferry ride away from Busan South Korea, and quite close to China as well, so there is a lot of mixed east asian cultural influence here which you can feel in the streets. It’s a cool city and definitely seems like a good place to go with friends for the night life.. There isn’t too much other than that though, we thought. Along one of the rivers every night there are “Yatai” food stalls that serve delicious food and that’s definitely a recommended place to stop for a bit.
