During one of our days staying in Monopoli, we set off in our car to drive around the beautiful region of Puglia. First stop was across on the western coast of Puglia (the heel of the boot of Italy) to a long, white sand beach called Punta Prosciutto, which is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Nevertheless, despite the photos online showing it to be deserted, it was very much the opposite. We stayed here about an hour and a bit and then left – one because there were so many people on the beach, and so many trying to sell us stuff, and two because it was so incredibly hot that day and we were getting burnt. Still, it was a nice beach even with the people, and the water was refreshing. Maybe just don’t go in peak season (August).
