Hakone

A few days before we left Japan we took a little day trip from Tokyo to nearby Hakone, a mountainous area with a lake that is quite beautiful and a popular holiday spot for Tokyoites. It’s got a famous red gate (Torii) in the water, and amazing forests all around. A really nice spot. Hakone area is really well known for it’s Onsens – it’s very expensive to stay, it does look very nice though. We spent some time in one of the onsens which was very nice, however it was a public holiday and VERY crowded.. wouldn’t recommend it on a public holiday. Any other time, definitely!
